Synthwave / Vaporwave & Nuwave are 80s revival genres of music with a modern twist. This style has soon come up from the underground to the mainstream with countless artists releasing new tracks with the “Synthwave flavour”.

This virtual instrument is a collection of 100 fabulous sampled presets from various analog synthesizers running through legendary effects and outboard gear. This process brings a rich and unique “analog” quality that is different from other virtual emulations of real synthesizers.

A wide palette of instantly recognizable sounds from basses leads to pads and effects has been carefully designed and programmed to inspire you. Just plug and play is the motto at Beatskillz. This helps to focus on music and creativity rather than get lost in endless sound tweaking to get results.

• LFO TYPE: Choose the wave type of the loo, the options are – Triangle, saw, sin, square & exponential.
• LFO DEPTH: This control lets you set the depth of the LFO.
• LFO RATE: Set the speed/ rate of the Lfo with this control.
• ADSR: Control the amplitude envelope of the sound by changing the attack, decay, sustain and release of the patch.
• FILTER TYPE: Choose the filter type – none, low pass or high pass.
• FILTER CUTOFF: Control the cutoff frequency of the filter.

Global Effects

80s / Synthwave Drums Rompler

The 80s defined the era of Synthesizers and Drum Machines. This is the time when great musicians suddenly had electronic instruments at their disposal, and a new genre of music evolved. Certain drum machines defined and made the 80s sound instantly recognizable. These drum sounds came from early samplers and analog synthesis. Romplers/ Samplers were 8 and 12 bit and made any sample put into them sound “unique” and it did not sound like the original recording. Lower sample rates of 10-22khz and early D/A converters also played an important role in defining the Drum Machine Sound!

Stereo and Multioutput plugin instances :
We have provided separate installers for the Stereo Mix output of the drum kits and also individual multi out versions of the plugin. The Multi-out version lets you put each of the 12 sounds in a kit/bank onto its own channel in your DAW, allowing you to further process the sounds as per your liking.

SampleX Version 2 brings you new features like – LP/ HP ladder resonant filters, stereo width control (mono / M/S expander) & a dynamic convolution system where Beatskillz have sampled the real vintage samplers to get their exact sound at various levels.

A standard variable sample rate, bitrate and aliasing control (shift) are also present. The team at Beatskillz went on a quest to study the actual circuitry and found each and every step right from the A/D converters, preamps, analogue, and digital filters, and processes involved to recreate each stage and bring you a plugin that can not only emulate a sampler but many, and also lets you design your own sampler or vintage chip!

A/D Sample Section

• Bits: Set the Bit Rate with this control. The range varies from the modern-day 24 bit right down to 4 bits!
• Sample Rate: Set the Sample Rate with this control. The range varies from 96kHZ (your DAW sample rate) down to 2kHZ.

Aliasing & Drive Section

• Shift: The key process of getting those “aliased/ring” sounds from the vintage samplers was to lower the pitch of the samples. The effect caused by vintage samplers is emulated here, allowing a user to “dial-in” the exact aliasing sound that they want to hear, without actually modifying the pitch of the sample.
• Drive: In vintage samplers, users often overloaded the pre-amp before the A/D converter to get a driven sound. BeatSkillz has accurately emulated the sound found in a variety of samplers to give you the same saturation and drive, and get even closer to the sound of those vintage beasts!

Analog Filter Emulation

• Filter Type: BeatSkillz has accurately modelled the popular Vintage Analog Mono Synth used on countless recordings. This is a 24 DB/oct low pass filter with resonance. If you increase the resonance it does fo into self-oscillation creating a pitched tone, just like the original.
• This filter is perfect for those warm and dark tones fit for lo-fi and hip-hop music.
• Filter Freq Control: Set the Cutoff Frequency for the low pass filter. The range is 20 kHz to 20 Hz.
• RES Control: Set the resonance of the high or low pass filter using the slider control. Go extreme and get the filter into self-oscillation mode like the real analogue filter that it was modelled after.

Mix & Input / Output Section

• Wet / Dry: The Wet Control will control the amount of the “effected” signal and the DRY control will mix in the original/clean signal. This gives you the possibility of mixing just the right amount of processing to your input audio.
• In / Out: The IN control lets the user increase or decrease the gain of the input audio and the OUT control lets the user increase or decrease the gain of the output audio signal after being processed by the plugin.

Presets & File Management

• BeatSkillz has carefully matched various settings of SampleX to sound just like the original samplers that they are emulating, some great presets are available here to get you started and also give you a taste of the sound of some vintage samplers that are now unavailable or very expensive to purchase.
• You can also easily save and delete your own presets and share them with your friends.
• Have some rare samplers in your arsenal? Use SampleX to get as close as possible and distribute these with your friends or fellow Beatskillz users!
